7th Framework Initial Training Programme

NotchIT is a 4-year FP7 European Union funded Project which was awarded to 7 academic and 1 industrial partners from 6 European countries. This partnership is formed to train young researchers at early stage of their career in the field of Notch signalling.

NotchIT is constructed to fill an important void in European training and research in a rapidly developing field, focusing on the Notch signalling pathway, a key regulatory mechanism involved in development and differentiation, NotchIT integrates expertise from several areas of developmental biology and pathology, all united by a common interest in Notch signalling and its integration with other signalling mechanisms. Expertise in myogenesis, haematopoiesis, neurobiology, heart and vascular biology, tumour biology and molecular pharmacology is congregated in this project, providing a unique platform for interd isciplinary work.

NotchIT partners are working in different environments: Hospitals, Universities, Research Institutes and Industry. This will enable young researchers to be exposed to different type of approaches, from basic research - utilizing different experimental models in vitro and in vivo, from zebra fish to mice – to clinical and translational research, by transferring the knowledge gained to the treatment of human diseases. NotchIT encourages participation at meetings, summer schools, short-term exchange visits and interactions among laboratories through an attractive Training programme.
